Multifunctional Hall and Host for World Handball Championship 2009
Spalladium Arena is a new multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena located in Split Croatia. It has 12,000 seats. Event setups range from sports to concerts as well as exhibitions to conferences. The Spalladium Arena is qualified for Olympic Games and is a must-stop tour destination in South-East Europe. A total of 13,000 m² roofing constructions were completed during October / November 2008.
The bearing structure of the roof is made of composite panels on a steel framework. The architect demanded no penetrations of the composite panels and an aesthetically pleasing appearance of the roof surface. A high wind load resistance was also required as the building has a coastal location with high wind speeds of up to 50 m/s.
Facts and Solutions
The polymeric sheet felt membrane was fully adhered to the composite panels with adhesive. Metal profiles were installed as peelstops at the roof perimeter. The flashings were made with metal sheet.
